PILON Cybercrime Working Group Webinar – “Link by Link: Forging the Chain of Custody for Digital Evidence”

On Friday 5 April 2024, the PILON Cybercrime Working Group delivered a webinar on “Link by Link: Forging the Chain of Custody for Digital Evidence”. The webinar featured Michael James (Senior Digital Forensic Examiner, Australian Federal Police), Natasha Purvis (Senior Federal Prosecutor, Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions, Australia) and Elma Rizzu Hilly, (Principal Magistrate, Central Magistrates Court, Honiara, Solomon Islands). The speakers shared their knowledge and expertise in maintaining the chain of custody for digital evidence, from the investigation of a crime to the prosecution and subsequent court proceedings.

We were joined by experts Superintendent Kalisi Tohifolau and Siosaia Vaipuna from the Computer Emergency Response Team in the Kingdom of Tonga. Kalisi and Saia shared their experience about computer forensics and explained how the police and CERT work together in Tonga to continue to combat cybercrimes. Participants completed online modules 7 and 8 relating to this discussion group.
